The Spin on Climate Change
For those who are knowledgeable about climate change and convinced that it is happening, for those who understand that it's simply a question of science and not politics, the lack of media coverage regarding global warming is absurd. Even more so, the fact that for how the media poses it, global warming is up for debate! The fact is NASA began to warn us about global warming cause and effects in the 1980s, and as such the debate was opened up in the mainstream media, but it remained just that: a debate.
As such, this encourages ignorance and allows people to remain inactive because it seems as if climate change is under question, like it could be a conspiracy by environmentalists. However, the real matter is that it's the major powers that be: industrial agriculture, non-renewable energy producers and the various lobbies for each group who want global warming to remain a question and not an absolute. They would lose money if they had to change their production methods and whatever product or service they sell and for today's consumers its easier to pretend global warming is just a hypothesis than find the resourcefulness to dramatically change one's lifestyle.
