Don't Buy Textbooks; Rent Them Instead

The College Board estimates that the average college student spends $1,200 per semester on textbooks. That’s a hefty amount added to the already expensive tuition rates and costs of living. Luckily, textbook rental is an alternative to buying the necessary books to earn a college degree. It’s an option that college students around the world take advantage of to cut the costs of attending college.

Can You Buy Used Textbooks?

What about buying used books instead of new ones to reduce the costs of textbooks? Although this is an option, you’re left with the books when the semester is complete. Selling them is sometimes challenging. Books that include discs, pamphlets or other information may not have these items when purchased used.

Renting textbooks eliminates the outrageous cost of textbooks and the frustrations that come when buying used textbooks. It is easy to rent textbooks for almost any college course that you take. Rent it for the semester and return it when you’re done.

It is simple and easy to rent textbooks for college -and so much cheaper.

Book Rent for College Instead

Many book stores offer college textbook rental, giving students options to find the books they need at the best prices. Research the bookstores online to learn their rental process, the books they offer, etc. Do not limit yourself to only one bookstore. You can also call around local bookstores, colleges, and educational institutes to learn more about their textbook rental program.

You’ll have access to the textbooks during and after school so you can always get your work done, study for tests, etc. without worry. The textbook is yours to keep and use as needed during the entire semester! If your friends are without textbooks, you can even share with them should that need arise. Make sure it is a trusted friend, however, because you are responsible for the textbook and making sure it is returned in the same condition as when you rented.

The Bottom Line

Acta Philosophorum The First Journal of Philosophy is a college textbook with a price tag of $1,450! Although the textbooks you require for college may not have this extravagant price tag, many do cost hundreds of dollars. Rather than spend all of this money to pay for college textbooks when it's better spent elsewhere, why not consider book rent instead? It's a popular trend among college students across the globe, one that may very well benefit your life as well.
