History of Blogging
The now ubiquitous term "blog" was first used in the 1990s. What today is a massive and important form of self publication started out quite small...in fact, before blogging, there were several digital communities that allowed the creation of running conversations with threads so users could follow another person's written ideas, although it was very informal. Today's modern blog as we know it has its roots in the online diary. It passed a period of taking on the form of a modern day website that was manually updated and arrived to how it is now......
The actual word blog was taken from weblog, which was later turned into we blog, and finally blog. Blogging really took off in 1999 with the arrival of simple to use hosted blog tools like Open Diary, SlashDot, and others. Today blogging is mainstream and a blogger can also make substantial money by allowing advertisers to post their ads on his or her page, the blogger sets his or her price for the adspace by how many daily visitors pass through his or her site. Today many bloggers have gone from having thousands of followers to being given the possibility for a book deal by major publishers.
