Can Cellular Phones Harm Your Relationships?

Cellular phones have changed our relationships with the people around us. Today, instead of sitting down at the table with friends to chat and catch up, we sit down at a table with friends and then we do most of the chatting on our cell phones. Most of us can't resist a quick glance at our phones! Though in theory our cellular phones are created to help us keep in touch with the people around us, in reality they are distracting and can actually hurt our close relationships.
It's found that even having a phone nearby without checking it is enough to hurt relationships. Though you may not be ready to give up your phone for good just because you are in a serious relationship it certainly won't hurt to consider leaving it at home every now and then when you are enjoying a day out with your friends and family. It seems that the cellular phone has become symbolic of the wider network to which we can constantly connect, as such it may block our ability to built trust and contact with those right in front of us.
