Visiting New Mexico

New Mexico, also called 'The Land of Enchantment,' is a Southwestern state that offers a unique climate and ambient for visitors. The summers are wickedly hot and winters can be harsh in the state's Northern tier. New Mexico is rich in archeology, with ruins from ancient indigenous communities scattered everywhere. There are also 19 Native American pueblos and three reservations, the most notable is the Taos Pueblo, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the 100 or so residents who live there continue a lifestyle much like their ancestors from a thousand years ago.
If you enjoy Southwestern folk art and artist Georgia O'Keefe than Santa Fe's museums will surely interest you. Of course there are lots of resorts and spas for those looking for some relaxation and the Ojo Caliente Mineral Springs is the only hot water spring with 4 different types of mineral waters in the world. If you want to visit at a a special moment head to Albuquerque around mid October to check out the International Balloon Fiesta where more than 700 hot air balloons will lift off.
