Managing Curly Hair in the Summer
While some people are blessed with naturally sleek, straight hair even after a swim, some of us have the burden of managing frizzy, unruly curls on the go and with no styling appliances. Especially over summer, girls with curls have to get creative with taming their tresses in the great outdoors. Since camping trips and long beach days are inevitable, it can be useful to know a few tricks for making the best of your natural hair. Stubborn ringlet curls are actually the easiest to manipulate; just bring along a light product for quick curl definition.
Skip the combing out and towel drying in order to keep your curls hydrated and unfettered, because when soaking wet hair is totally left alone, it is able to fully air dry into much more defined, calm curls. Wavier curls that are more delicate do best with a few spritzes of water mixed with sea salt. If you are swimming in the ocean, you can just dip your strands back into the water and come straight up to have evenly placed waves. Sea salted water in a spray bottle does the trick as well and can even help with touching up and cooling down throughout the day. And of course, a good hat is always a great plan B when you have hopelessly unruly curls.
