Flood Damaged Car Help

With recent extreme weather conditions it's possible that you may find yourself with a flood damaged car and without the right insurance to pay for it. Here's what to do when you have a flooded car to deal with. If it's yours, start by calling your insurance company, if you have a comprehensive insurance plan you'll be able to buy a replacement car with the money they give you. Remember, it may take awhile to speak to a representative as there will be a high call in volume.

In the meantime, take photos of the damaged car, especially of the license plate. Take preventative measures to keep the damage from getting worst, if you need to buy anything, keep receipts. If you want to start the car, the first thing to do is check the air-filter under the hood. In the case that it's wet, don't start it. The same goes for if your car has been submerged (you'll see by the wet seats and carpet), it will only further damage your car. The sad fact is your car will never be the same, as it will most likely have mold issues and the electronic system won't work well. The same goes for if water has entered into the engine, if you don't have the right insurance you can expect a total loss.
