Recycle Your Clothes

Most people don't know that textiles, including apparel, makes up 12.7 million tons of waste. Its our job to reduce this number by thinking up creative strategies to reuse unwanted clothing. Whether you are making a quilt, jewelery, upcycling or something of your own invention - it makes a difference! Though there are many environmentally friendly products on the market, there is nothing as ecologically friendly as recycling something that already exists.
From clothing exchange parties with friends to making new clothes from old clothes, the solutions are endless. Another solution is to turn household fabrics (think Scarlett O'Hara) into clothing. Sometimes you don't even need sewing skills, it's enough to head over to the Salvation Army and with a few dollars and some scissors you can invent something wonderful. For inspiration, look online to see the wide array of "green couture" artists who make gorgeous clothing out of entirely recycled household materials.
